The kick-off meeting took place in Bonn March 26-27 2009, preceeded by a three-day CAPRI training session
A training session took part September 2-4 2009 in Seinäjoki, Finland.
The focus was on regional CGE modelling and linkage PE-CGE. One full day was devoted for well preparted didactic exercises with REGFIN, which was installed and ran successfully on the laptop of the particitipants. The project team also used the opportunity and present and discuss deliverables which were due during the firt half year of CAPRI-RD.
We thank Hannu and his team again for the well organized event!

The different teams presented briefly the content of the deliverables prepared during the first project year. It was concluded that the project is advancing as foreseen, and even ahead of time in several aspects. A working group, joining team members from different work packages, will review the proposed solution to model RD measures in the PE and CGE part of CAPRI-RD to ensure a consistent and state-of-art implementation.
We thank Erol and his team again for the well organized event!

The training session analyzed three group of scenarios (1) WTO compromised and Pillar I removal, (2) Ecological set-aside and 20% additional modulation, used to boost agri-environmental schemes, and (3) Introduction of 20% reduction standard of Global Warming Emissions from agricultural against the base year as well as the introduction of a permit trading scheme for the same reduction level. The participants, both from the project and from other teams, worked in small groups supervised by a trainer and analyzed different aspects of the scenarios (market impacts, welfare analysis, farm level impacts, environmental impacts) with the CAPRI GUI and later presented their findings.
Two half days before and after the session were used by the project team to discuss project progress, especially how to use in a proper way existing data on pillar II budgets, how to exploit FADN data to improve pillar II modelling, how to deal with urban/rural issues and finally, how to map pillar II measures in scenarios shocks for the regional supply models of CAPRI and the regional CGEs.
We thank Janet and her team for the event organized at an extraordinary place!
The second annual meeting 2011 took place March 23-25 2011 in Seville, Spain
The different teams presented briefly the content of the deliverables prepared during the first project year. It was concluded that the project is well on track. The regional SAMs will be released internally well before foreseen such that the implementation and testing of the regional CGE might start. The team also decided to closely interact with the EU user board in autumn and winter on scenarios relating to CAP post 2013 with a focus on "greening".
The meeting was complemented by a CAPRI consortium meeting to discuss how to organize updates, maintenance and further developement of CAPRI also beyond the CAPRI-RD project.
We thank Ben, Ana and others at JRC-IPTS again for the well organized event!
EAAE 2011 in Zurich: Organized Session and several CAPRI papers
In order to make the project known to the wider scientific community and to learn more about the state-of-the art of modelling the CAP, Wolfgang Britz organized the session "Modelling CAP Pillar I and II in Large-Scale Economic Simulation Models: State of the Art and Visions" with contributions by
- Roger Martini and Frank van Tongeren, OECD, Paris: Modelling the different CAP reforms since 1992 in PEM
- Harald Grethe (Uni Hohenheim) and Stefan Nolte (Ghent University): Market level models and the green box - mission impossible?
- Kirsten Urban (Uni Hohenheim), Hans Grinsted Jensen (University Copenhagen) and Martina Borckmeyer (Uni Hohenheim): How Decoupled is the Single Farm Payment in GTAP: Using a Sensitivity Analysis to Uncover the Degree of Coupling
- and many CAPRI-RD contributors: Modelling CAP Pillar I and II instruments - approaches in the CAPRI-RD project
There were also several CAPRI based or related papers at the conference:

Given the positive feedback on the format of the training 2010 in Cirencester, small groups analyzed during three days scenarios (CAP post 2013 proposals, bi-lateral and multi-lateral trade liberalization, GHG standards and tradable permits) from different perspectives. Each group was supervised by a trainer who supported participants in using the CAPRI graphical user interface, but also by answering methodological questions. With about 35 participants, it was the largest CAPRI training session ever.
We thank Alex and the team at vTI for the well organized event!

The different teams presented briefly the content of the deliverables prepared during the first project year. It was concluded that the project is well on track. The fourth year will be devoted to render all developed solutions operational for policy impact policy and to policy relevant applications.
The meeting was complemented by a CAPRI consortium meeting to discuss how to organize updates, maintenance and further developement of CAPRI also beyond the CAPRI-RD project.
We thank Marial-Lusia, Jean-Michel and others at JRC-IES again for the well organized event!
The next and last training session in the context of CAPRI-RD will take place September 26-28 2012 in Piran, Slovenia. It is planned to analyse together the different policy relevant deliverables due in the fourth year of CAPRI-RD, with a focus on the second pillar of the CAP and the regional CGEs.
The final meeting is planned end of Februray 2013 near Brussels
