Analysis of the competitiveness of Mercosur's key agri-food sectors,
comparison of policies and and ex-ante impacts of EU-Mercosur trade liberaliation

Overview

The 3-year research project (2005-2008) EU-Mercopol, financed by the EU under the 6th framework program, aims at analyzing the competitiveness of Mercosur's key agri-food sectors, comparison of policies and the ex-ante impacts of agricultural trade liberalization between the EU and Merocsur countries. The consortium of eleven partners from South America and Europe is co-ordinated by CIRAD- Amis/ProsPER Cono Sur Project, Buenos Aires.

Contribution of ILR to the project

ILR extends and applies the CAPRI model in the project to analyze impact of global and bi-lateral agricultural trade scenarios on eonomic and environmental indicators, specifically

Extension of CAPRI's global market model to individual Merosur countries

Extension of CAPRI's global market model to cover the releveant products

Analysis of bi-lateral trade agreements between the EU and Mercosur countries
