Welcome to the page of the IMA Research Group!

The chair of the Innovation and Management in Agribusinessfocuses on trending management issues of food and agribusiness sectors. Our central research interest is innovation and management in agri-food chains and networks. We aspire to understand how emerging innovations and different management practices are adopted by the market, shape existing value chains and may mitigate modern-day challenges.

We aim at closely linking theoretical and practical questions in research and education. To attain sound research outcomes we strive to use a wide range of quantitative, qualitative, as well as mixed methods.

News

  • Starting 1st of January 2024, Prof. Dr. David Antons will join Bonn University as professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management in Agribusiness at the Institute for Entrepreneurship.
  • As of the 1st of October 2023, Dr. Christian Baccarella – a substitute professor at the Chair of Innovation and Management in Agribusiness, will follow his academic career at the Bundeswehr University Munich as a professor of innovation management. We are thankful to him for his work at the Chair and wish him every success in the future.
  • From October 1, 2023 onwards, Dr. Carolin Kamrath will pursue her career at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences in the project Q.V.I.W (https://www.th-koeln.de/weiterbildung/qviw_100242.php). We express our deep gratitude to her for the outstanding work she has done for the chair and wish her the best of success in the new position.
  • Students had the last guest lecture in the SoSe23 with Ulrich Seitz - Managing Director at BayWa r.e. Energy Ventures. The lecture took please online on Wednesday, July 5th at 16:15.
  • Students had an opportunity to meet with Dr. Daniel Gerhard (Grammer AG) as a guest lecturer on Wednesday, June 28th at 16:15. The lecture will be online.
  • Students attended Startup Summer Slam Festival 2023 that was organized by DIGITALHUB.de on the 21st to learn more about the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Bonn.
  • Dr. Christian Baccarella published an article in the Journal of Marketing together with Dr. Lukas Maier, Prof. Martin Schreier (both WU Vienna University), and Prof. Kai-Ingo Voigt from FAU WiSo. The paper can be found here. 
  • The IMA Chair welcomed Prof. Dr. Andreas König from the University of Passau for a guest lecture.
  • Students from STIMA and SIME classes visited the UN Campus on Wednesday. We thank former ambassador Harald Ganns for his support! .
  • On 10th of May, Dr. Timm Wagner – Director Transformation Management at Adidas – had a guest lecture at the Meckenheimer Allee 174, Seminar Room, between 16:15 – 17:45.
  • The chair was happy that Lee Greene gave a guest speaker on Wednesday, May 3rd. Lee Greene is the co-founder of Foodhub-NRW.
  • Carolin Block successfully defended her doctoral dissertation on Friday, April 28th. Congratulations!
  • The IMA Chair started with our guest lectures to boost students’ industry and practical knowledge. We welcomed Hendrik and Philipp on Wednesday, April 26th - The both founded BugBrothers, a startup that provides animal feed made from insects.
  • For the winter semester WS 21-22 we welcomed Dr. Christian Baccarella as a substitute professor at the Chair of Innovation and Management in Agribusiness.
  • On 09.06.2022, the BGZ offered a start-up workshop for doctoral students and Post-Docs. Within the workshop, start-up ideas are developed from scientific work. Further information and registration here.
