Applications for the AFECO program is recommended for our yearly program start in October (winter semester): the application period opens on December 1st (of the previous year) and closes on April 30th (of the same year). If necessary, applications can also be submitted for a start in April (summer semester): the application period opens on July 1st (of the previous year) and closes on October 31st (of the previous year). Please always apply via our online application platform, where you will be guided to complete the application forms and to submit the necessary documents. You can prepare some of those in advance, looking at the list below:

B.Sc. certificate with an overall grade of at least 2,5 or equivalent (e.g. 'good', B+) in German or English (or certified English translation)
- Students in the final year of their Bachelor programme may also apply for admission prior to graduation. The examination board can tentatively admit students based on a transcript of their academic records and the expected date of graduation.

you can submit any document in English or German that may enable the examination board to better judge your application, such as a summary of your Bachelor Thesis (two pages maximum), an official letter of recommendation from your professor or employee, a letter of motivation
Please submit all application documents – have in mind that only certified documents are accepted – until April 30th for a start in the following winter semester (strongly recommended) or October 31st for a start in the following summer semester. After those dates, the application process will be closed.

Admission
If you do not fulfill ALL of the requirements below, you are not eligible to apply. Decision about acceptance is made by the examination board.
Students who wish to enrol in the AFECO MSc programme at Bonn University must have:
- B.Sc. degree or equivalent in study programs linked to Agribusiness Management, Agricultural Economics, Food and Household Economics, Economics, Business Management, or a similar subject
- B.Sc. degree or equivalent with a grade of at least 2,5 or an equivalent grade (‘good’, B+, second class upper division in other grading systems)
- A minimum of 42 (ECTS) in economics or business management (equivalent to 1260 hours workload) – including:
- an economic focus of the bachelor thesis topic,
- a minimum of 5 ECTS in microeconomics and
- a minimum of 5 ECTS in statistics
