Alisher Mirzabaev gave a keynote presentation on the occasion of the launch of the new ECON-WOCAT dataset during the Conference of Parties (COP) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, on 17 May 2022. This new dataset provides the information on the costs and benefits of more than 500 sustainable land management (SLM) technologies and expected to become an important source of information for designing international land restoration investments. Alisher Mirzabaev gave a virtual presentation on “Climate change and food systems” during the 3rd International Healthy Nutrition Congress organized by the University of Trakya (Turkey) on 17 May 2022.

Alisher Mirzabaev, together with the Economics of Land Degradation (ELD) secretariat at GIZ and University of Rwanda, launched a new study on “Harmonizing land restoration activities under the three Rio Conventions in Rwanda” during the Conference of Parties (COP) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, on 17 May 2022. This study will be conducted by the Production Economics group at the Institute of Food and Resource Economics (ILR) together with the University of Rwanda and the Strategy and Policy Council under the Office of the President of Rwanda. The study is supported by ELD Secretariat at GIZ.

Forschungsthemen der Professur für Produktionsökonomik

Die Forschungsaktivitäten der Professur für Produktionsökonomik fokussieren sich auf die quantitative Analyse betrieblicher Entscheidungen in der Land- und Ernährungswirtschaft. Dabei sind Fragen zum landwirtschaftlichen Strukturwandel und die Einflüsse von klimatischen Risiken, Fragen des Risikomanagements und der Einsatz ressourcenschonender Produktionsverfahren und neuer Technologien zur Verbesserung von Tierwohl von Interesse. Dabei stehen Methoden zur ökologischen und ökonomischen Effizienzmessung im Vordergrund. Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt bildet die Analyse von landwirtschaftlichen Bodenmärkten, insbesondere die Analyse verschiedener Marktmechanismen wie Landauktionen.
